The villa is one of the characteristic monuments of neo-Gothic architecture of Lviv with elements of neo-Romanesque style. Built in 1875 by Edmund Koehler for the family of Wladyslaw Charnowski, it was originally called "Comfort". In 1893 the villa was rebuilt by the architect Alfred Kamenobrodzky by order of Olimpia Vyshynska. Much of the building has retained its historic appearance, is an architectural monument. To a large extent, the building has preserved its historic appearance, is an architectural monument (oh. № M-722). Today it is used as an apartment building.
The villa was built in 1875 by Edmund Köhler in the neo-Romanesque style for Wladyslaw Czarnowski and was originally called "Zacisze" (Architecture of Lviv, 2009, 348). The picturesque asymmetrical villa stood out with a corner tower with an observation deck on the 4th floor, open brickwork with colored bricks.
Later, at least from 1889, Olimpia Wyszyńska became the owner of the house. On July 3, 1893, a reconstruction project was approved, which was designed by Vyshinskaya by the famous Lviv architect Alfred Kamienobrodzki. The house was expanded: two corner towers were completed, as well as the western part. The stylistics of the facades has been preserved and supplemented by the use of decorative stylized neo-Gothic elements. The name of the villa was changed to "Palatine". The choice of such a name is not accidental. On the one hand, "palatine" is a title in medieval Europe, which corresponds to "voivode", and on the other - in Rome, the name of the hill from which the construction of the city began. Lviv Villa is located on a sloping terrain near Kalicha Mountain, where, as is known from archaeological research, the settlement existed before the founding of Magdeburg Lviv. In addition, it imitates a medieval castle with its stylistic solution.
In 1910–1915, Tadeusz Rutowski, a journalist, writer, economist, and vice-president of Lviv (since 1905), actually the mayor of Lviv during the Russian occupation (1914–1915), lived in the house. hostage during the departure of Russian troops from the city.
During the twentieth century. the villa has changed a bit from the garden side: the decorative brickwork was covered with cement plaster, the brackets under the cornice were knocked down and the exit to the backyard was walled up.
Villa "Palatine" is located somewhat secluded among the residential buildings kin. XIX - early XX century - south of the city center. The north-western facade leads to the steep slope of Kalicha Gora Street, the south-western - on the street. Glebova. The territory is bounded by a fence, which due to the significant difference in relief between the street and the site serves as a retaining wall.
According to the configuration, the section of the villa had a trapezoidal shape, as indicated in the project drawing. There is a difference in height between the site and the street. According to the method of placement, the villa is located separately closer to the front of the street. The recreational area near the villa is divided by paths, there is also a front garden, orchard area, utility area.
According to the project drawing from 1875, it was possible to enter the "Comfort" villa through the first floor, going to the spacious rectangular lobby. Stairs were arranged in it, and several rooms were grouped around it, in particular: a kitchen and a dining room (in the right, south-western part of the house), as well as two large rooms - salons (in the left, north-eastern part). From the kitchen and living room there were exits to another room with additional rooms, which was located from the northwest and had access to the garden. The stairwell connected the basements, first and second floors. On the second floor there were bedrooms. There was also a staircase to the attic from the hall on the second floor. In the basement (basement
A cozy place for a road break and replenishment of fuel and lubricants of the car and food of organisms in it. You can feed the dogs with clips, which are happy to approach people and give a paw.
Beautiful villa. I am glad that it is at least partially restored. For lovers it is worth a visit.
