Avis Ukraine

Would like to give it a lower rating. I had a rental that was pre-booked. I enter the country for my business trip and low and behold their window is closed. I even had a friend call the number so some one can come and give me my rental, but had to wait 1.5 hours and no one showed. Eventually I went to europcar and had to rent from them.

Avis Rental in Ivano-Frankivsk Airport (not Kyiv) Recommended. Surprisingly good my first experience with Avis Rental in Ukraine. Briefly: very good experience with Avis Rental in Ivano-Frankivsk. The vehicle was on time. All paperwork, inspection, and charges were done in a matter of 15 minutes including the car’s condition. Aleksandr provided all information and was very helpful. Had this car for four days. Return was quick and with no hassle. Will use them again if I come to Ukraine. Summary: I would give 4 and ½ starts for their services. A bit details for those who may be considering to rent a car in Ukraine. I needed a car for this visit and took a plunge to rent with Avis. Reserved it here in US using online Avis reservation since I have Avis Preferred account. Discussed all possible gotchas with the Avis Customer Service, just to be prepared. The price was the same to book it from Avis or use the Avis Ukraine website. I had prepaid all the rental fees in advance and got around 15% discount for that. When arrived to the airport, the Avis Rental agent was already there and it took me around 15-20 minutes to inspect the car, took all pictures and notes of any scuffs and scratches, and left a deposit. Yes, Avis will put a hold on your card for the amount of 700Euro. I was aware about this from the very beginning, so no problems or surprises. I selected their standard Avis coverage for the car that was included in the price and declined any additional optional coverages. A tidbit, I have a Citibank credit card and it offers rental insurance coverage worldwide for free. So, check your credit card perks if you rent. I was satisfied with the check-out process and got in the car. Driving on Ukrainian roads was a bit of shock. Yes, I knew that roads in cities are bad, but experiencing that from a driver’s seat was , let’s say, a thrill. Roads outside of cities are better. Four days later, got the car back to Avis. Re-fueled my car prior to the return. Kept the receipt as the agent needed to see it. The check-in process was pretty quick and without any problems. The agent removed hold of 700Euros and I got my confirmation. The whole process took no more that 10 minutes. Overall – I am quite happy camper with overall process and services. Will be using again.

If I could give this rental car stand a worse rating I would. Completely unorganized, zero customer service. It took over 2 hours to get me vehicle, and when turning it in it took just as long. They charged me extra for stuff on the car when I started renting it, like very small scratches from normal driving because I didn't see them when I first got the vehicle. They had to email me a receipt because they were so unorganized and don't save any information digitally. I would rather suck start a shotgun then ever rent from this place again. I've used Avis all over the world and this one horrid experience has caused me to never want to use them again anywhere.

A bomb service in the full sense of the word, Dimitri running a branch in the place, made sure to ride quickly even though I did not have an advance invitation, I was pleasantly surprised. I just know I'll be back there, because I did not get such a service anywhere.
