The literary and memorial museum is devoted to the famous writer Mikhail Bulgakov, who was born in Kiev. From 1906 to 1919, he lived in this house while writing his book The White Guard. Bulgakov included the building and land next to it and the internal layout of the house is exactly the same as described in his novel.
One of the most acclaimed Russian writers of the 20th century was born and grew up in Kiev.
His fine late-19th-century house on Andriyivskyy Descent is now a museum about his life and novels.
What makes the house so engrossing is that it inspired the home of the Turbins in the novel the White Guard, and the play The Days of the Turbins that came after.
The house is filled with Bulgakov’s possessions, and where replicas have been used they have been painted white.
At the end of a tour you’ll be invited to a cup of tea or coffee in this genteel setting.
It's really interesting place 🤔👍
Excellent museum! People who work there are really interested in their work. A good place to feel the atmosphere and to have a deeper insight in the works of Mikhail Bulgakov
Friendly staff that gave you time to read and listen on barcode info. The mystic mirrow was interesting.
Had a cup of tea as I waited for 11:00am opening.
A very interesting museum (the house of Mikhail Bulgakov). The workers of this museum, guides love their work very much. They have put a lot of effort into 30 years - the time during which the museum was created. Collected exhibits. This museum is the time Bulgakov stayed in Kiev. Bulgakov was a mentally imperialist and propagandist of the dominance of Moscow power (the tsarist period and the era of communist terror)! But, despite this, a very talented and outstanding writer. I recommend visiting this museum.
