Uman and its charming Island of Love. In the upper part of Sofia Park, usually the greatest attention of visitors is always focused on a large body of water with an island in the center. This is the Upper Pond, or the Enchanting Sea, as the poet Stanislav Trembetsky called it. The island in the center of the "sea" is the Island of Love, or Anti-Circe (this is the official name). Circe is a sorceress who turned people who came to her island into beasts. Odysseus' companions, for example, she turned into pigs.

The Anti-Circe island (the island of love) on the Upper Lake of the Sofiyivka National Arboretum is artificial; it was poured by hand by Pototsky's serfs. The island was given an oval shape so as not to obscure the perspective. You can get to the island by boat, catamaran, etc. But since 1853 you can get to the island through a wooden bridge. On the island stands out the Pink Octagonal Pavilion, which was closed during my visit, but there is nothing in it. The name of the pavilion comes from the color in which it was originally painted. The island is equipped with benches, you can relax, feed the ducks, take beautiful photos of the lake, pavilion and old trees.
