A 700 year old oak known as the Christer's oak. Wilhelm Gottlieb Christer (1812-1890) entrepreneur, founder of a horticultural firm and agricultural school in Kiev. According to the inventory of Kiev trees, this is the oldest oak tree in Kiev. The tree is still holding, in the summer of 2019 from gusts of wind, one main branch of the tree fell off, falling on a BMW X5, a week later, the second main branch falls on a wolkswagen LT 35 again due to strong winds. Christer's Oak is a botanical natural monument of local significance. The natural monument is located in the historical area of the Windy Mountains near the house at 2a Osipovskoho Street. To the east of the natural monument is Christer Hill. The tree is named after the Kyiv florist Wilhelm Christer, where his estate was located nearby. According to legend, Taras Shevchenko, who visited Wilhelm Christer, loved to rest by the oak. It is the second oldest oak in Kyiv. The age of the tree is 500 years. Trunk coverage 6.2 m, height 25 m. In the 1990s, a fire at a landfill burned part of the tree trunk. In 2006, the tree was treated by specialists of the Kyiv Ecological and Cultural Center. The tree is fenced, there is a security sign.
