St Joseph County Jail

I have not been here in 16 years however Im here to pick up a friend thats charges were dismissed. Ive currently been waiting 6+ hours since the order for release has been ordered by judge. Their system for release is clearly a unorganized mess. This process should absolutely not take more than 1 hour. Its poor management and it needs to be fixed. People do not deserve to be treated this way. Im giving 2 stars because over the last couple days of calling they have been very helpful up to this point.

I have to do is follow the rules and treat people the way you want to be treated you know show love and do good I thought the guards were exceptional they're just doing their job and they always got a job to do I was there for almost 30 days and I cried myself to sleep every night just gullible and stupid and took a rap for somebody didn't even realize what I was doing regards i'll me down the other inmate girls just wanted me to rub up some revenge or whatever and I just I just wanted to know I did wrong and do what I had to do to get home I mean nobody put a gun to my head and said go do this but i'm grateful for saint Joseph county have a hell of a job in front of them with all these people you are now I pray for officers fireman everyday everyday

My grandson was arrested last night. I called today to ask several questions about visiting hours, commissary, whether he could receive books, etc. The phone was answered on the third ring. I was asked to hold. Someone answered in less than a minute. Each question was answered thoroughly and with respect. The officer took the time to tell me to have a good day. He sounded very tired and yet he was courteous. I appreciate being treated with respect at a difficult time.

Left work an hour early to be there on time, and I get there and stand in line for 10 minutes, at which point it’s 4:02pm and the department I needed was closed by the time I got checked in. Because they close at 4pm!!!!! Now I have to call out of work again on Monday bc they work bankers hours and people that have a real job are working the hours they are open!!!! Soo I didn’t get to do what I needed to. And I wasted an hour and a half driving and wasting gas.

Terrible food, no toilet paper, roommates were cool.
