Any time we can find a space that tells us a bit more about the new location we happen to be visiting, we try our best to stop there. The PoCo Museum is free and worth the stop. You should plan to spend an hour or two there to really get a feel for the exhibits, but not much longer. There is a scavenger hunt for the younger crowd, and the back area, which doubled as a jail holds several fossils of animals found on the farmland of Porter County residents.

It's a cute place, with some interactive things to do. Mostly it is things to read but they do have some neat artifacts. Especially their mastodon bone collection. I had no idea so many were found right here! I definitely recommend checking it out

Fun and interesting exhibits. Old jail makes for a creeptastic environment.

This is a great little museum housed in a historic space. I enjoyed the diversity of exhibits that all reflected local history and broader ties. Certainly worth a stop if you're a local or just passing thru the area.
