West View Elementary School

My kids love it here. The teachers are very kind and encouraging

I can only speak to my past experience of this school. My oldest son went to kindergarten and 1st grade there back in the mid eighties. It was a wonderful school at that time and to my knowledge has continued to be an excellent school throughout the intervening years due to the excellent teachers there. With the closing of many neighborhood schools during the 2017-18 year, I don't know how many students have been transferred into the school and if it is more crowded. That may affect how many students are in each classroom. I know the quality of the teachers there will do their very best to cope with the changes. The school day now starts at 7:30 for all elementary schools which I think is ridiculous. That's not just this school but all the city's elementary schools. This is not to benefit the children but because of the bus schedule needs. Muncie had a history of excellent neighborhood elementary schools so many children could walk from their homes to school. This year that changed. The bus system has failed badly. I don't know how that's affected this particular school but it's affected many. That doesn't mean the school is negative because the teachers are excellent. It's an excellent neighborhood. Children coming from other neighborhoods into this school are fortunate. One nice thing is the addition of very nice playground equipment that's been added with the help of our neighborhood financial assistance. Like us, we'd lived here before then moved back and now have grandkids who enjoy playing there. There is a large open field for running play which many places don't have, making this a nice area to live as well as attend school. We may be having a tough school year as finances get straightened out, but that happens. Big picture? Great school and neighborhood around it.

I would pick up my suto grandson. A lot of traffic going to and coming from but several ways to exit. Not bad experience at all.FUB ud83dude02.
