Vigo County Historical Museum

Love the new Historical Museum. The displays are amazing, and its so much more accessible and organized than before. I dont like that Stiffy Green is in the dark, even though I know its supposed to be interactive. Really wish the horror section was larger, but the research center and all the recreations of old buildings is so cool. Staff is fantastic and love the gift shop! Highly recommend a visit.

There is so much to learn about Vigo county... You will have so many questions answered. Both young and old will enjoy themselves as they learn about our community. This new museum offers so much that you will remember from when you were a kid.... And also allows the kids of today to be engaged with new technologies... They have movies on the weekends. There is a soda shop with hot dogs and Coca-Cola floats.... Something for everyone.

Some good stuff here, I wish it was larger (more artifacts)

A unique facility with a history of its own. So much history to read a about. I need to spend a lot more time on my next visit.nnIt was great to meet George Leach while I was there. He is a living history book. Great to talk to. We started with his football face shields (first ones ever - see photo), and then moved on to a multitude of other topics including WWII.nnThe staff was phenomenal; very friendly and helpful. I had lunch at the soda fountain near the entry. Good pasta and good conversation with the staff. Anytime you can chat with the staff, you're likely to discover something interesting about the museum.
