Douglas County Museum

Great museum! TONS of information - I need to come back sometime without my kids so I have time to actually read all the signs. Very detailed exhibits, with tons of artifacts. The kids loved all the animals statues (taxidermied?) - pretty much every native type, including fossils. The outdoor exhibits were very cool; I really enjoyed getting to look into a stagecoach. My husband enjoyed the history of chainsaws. Interesting enough for little ones, and really great if you're a history lover and wants to learn more about the local area.

I had an AMAZING time at this museum. Saw a sign on the interstate and pulled off hoping for a fun stop during a long road trip. It beyond exceeded my expectations. We showed up just before closing and the delightful lady at the front desk couldn’t have been kinder. They had such cool interactive exhibits, beautiful artifacts and detail like we couldn’t believe - look closely, the backgrounds of the glass enclosures are paintings! A highlight of our journey and well worth the stop. Thanks so much for the experience, we’ll remember it for a long time!!

Super cool. Doesn't look like there much here from the outside but tons of historical stuff inside to see and a cool gift shop.

So much interesting information. It is kept up and taken are of very well. The employees were all warm and helpful. Would definitely recommend for a fun afternoon!
