Was very disappointed coming from the BX. To find out it's temporarily closed. The website needs to be updated because it clearly says it's open.

The Malcolm X Shabazz Memorial is not a museumnIt's a place of grief and a place of hope, a place about beauty and a place about terror, and all the ways to fight it.nnDon't expect any animation, don't expect any show here. This is a quiet place, almost a place of worship - the upstairs space is occasionally used as a mosque.nnThe Shabazz Memorial is a powerful place where one can feel the soul of Brother Malcolm and the pain he endured to help get us all where we are.nnAt the exact spot Malcolm X was standing when he died, now stands an elegy of him, a well crafted bronze statue.nnI left flowers at his feet, bowed, and sat there silently for a while.nnYes. You can bring flowers.

Feeling honored to have been able to visit on yesterday! Yes, they are open. You have to go up to the second set of double doors and the nicest security guard will let you in. They are in the process of remodeling for upcoming events, so your patience and even donations I’m sure will be greatly appreciated. Thank you for the visit!
