Powell Butte Elementary

This school has a huge bullying problem with no plan on place to actually address the issue. My son was teased, bullied, has his hair pulled weekly, was punched in the face on two occasions and in the stomach on another occasion. I spoke with the principals (this spanned a couple years and they have had high principal turnover at this school) , I tried to work with them to create a plan, worked with the school counselor to come up with some ways to address the bullying issues but nothing ever happened beyond talk. After all these occasions of physical assault, the bullies were made to sign a contract saying they would leave my child alone. That's it. They bullied him over and over and that was all that happened to those kids. They started telling my son to go ahead and kill himself, that no one would care. My son, who is always praised by his teachers for being so kind and helpful, who has never gotten in trouble at school for anything at all and enjoyed school before attending Wood, started refusing to go to school. He's such a good kid, so refusing to foo to school was huge. I can't blame him, who would want to show up for work when they are physically assaulted, constantly taunted and told to kill yourself? I wouldn't. We switched his school and he is extremely happy now. He likes school, has friends, is able to participate in extra curricular activities (even those were off the table because his bullies were enrolled in Sun, their behavior so bad that adult volunteers for one of the after school classes quit because of it).nnMy child did have some wonderful teachers that did their best to look out for him and would text me in the evening to check on him on days when bullying was extra bad. So that was nice of them.

I loved the teachers here. The school may have changed in the past 10 years, but back when I went there it was pretty crappy
