Palisades Interstate Park Commission: Police Department

i am indebted to this department, my life was saved. Some had to come in earlier for the rescue. I wish them all well for this level of dedication, and the value they put on one's life.

Extremely Corrupt police force. I was illegaly detained on the side of the road and my car was searched and takes apart and they found nothing and still arrested me and my wife and impounded my car. This entire force should be fired and replaced as they are extremely corrupt. They do not deserve the badge . They are a disgrace .

First of all let me say this. Whenever driving on the Palisades Parkway, watch your every move. Those cops are out for blood. They will undoubtedly try to get you on anything they can. The speed limit is 50. Drive 48! Be extra careful at the service stations, that's where they really like to bust people. That being said..nnI've heard a lot of negatives in regards to the Palisades Court on Alpine Approach road. I personally disagree. I don't remember the judges name, but he is kind of an adjunct judge who also practices as an attorney when not behind the bench. He's probably the best judge I've ever experienced. He's totally fair, patient and he makes sure that you understand everything prior to you walking out of that court room. He doesn't project a negative attitude and he is NOT out to get you. Even the Prosecutor is really fair and very professional.nnI went there for two parking tickets. The first was parking in a no parking zone and the second was for an obstructed license plate. When I sat down with the prosecutor he (In a nutshell) knew the obstructed plate was ridiculous (It was, there was nothing wrong with my license plate). He said because the dealer advertisement plate holder might have covered up a portion of the plate was the reason for the ticket. It only covered up the state slogan and not the plate number or state inscription. He recommended to the judge to throw out the ticket. I paid a total of $53 for the parking ticket (That was the deal).nnThe judge, in all fairness, accepted every single deal the prosecutor recommended. At first, I was told I would have to probably pay $75 but the judge lowered it even more. He's a good judge.nnIn conclusion, watch yourself when driving on the parkway. Based on my observations, a lot of people there who got speeding tickets, also got reckless driving tickets (In which every single reckless driving charge was thrown out). Also bring $$ to pay your fines!

This is posted by someone who is pro police.nI am shock that this dept has not been disbanded. After a family member received not one bit several tickets they hired an attorney. There was a video of the incident. The police report says one thing and the tape shows something completely different. How is that possible. Lying on a police report is a crime, but apparently it's ok for this dept to allow its officers to lie on an official report. Shame on bergan county for not putting an end to this. I wounder how many people have been wrongly convicted due to this practice.nIf you get pulled turn your phones recorder on!!

Those police will look for a reason to stop you and give you as many tickets they could.nIf you didn't do anything wrong and the roads are empty so they don't have whom to stop, they'll stop you and find rwasons to ticket you.nThey will find every hidden law in order to give you as many tickets they could.
