I have registered for the tour 3 weeks ahead, followed all security clearance instructions and travelled almost 50 miles to the site. Nobody was there and no number to call. We approached a security guard at the gate who had no idea about the tour and who was courteous enough to look up our names on the picnick visitor list. Of course, we weren't listed. Upon our complaint to the director of tours, we have been told that the tour was cancelled same day due to pending operations on the base.nIf you apply for a visit, beware that you are at a mercy of military with no respect.

I contacted them two weeks in advance to take a tour as they advise you to do. I received a confirmation from them. Yet when I came for their Saturday tour, I was turned away at the gate because my name was not on the list. A complete waste of my time especially since I drove 2 hours to get there.

I enjoyed the museum and the church part of the tour. The long, drawn out explanation outside at the actual crash site of the Hindenburg, I could have skipped. The museum is very nice with great displays.

If you would like a tour, you must contact them by email only at least 2 weeks in advance. This information is not readily available on their website, so don't make a special trip!
