This is truly one of my favorite places (a Registered National Historic Site) to visit. It is a MUST SEE site to stop at for any fan of history particularly Missouri history and the history of Platte County, MO. It's really a win win scenario by having the Jesse James Home & Museum on the same grounds as well. I've been visiting here since I was a young lad, and I will never stop being impressed with all it has to offer those that wish to learn more about the Pony Express, history of Missouri, and history of America during this era. I highly recommend it!
They have several exhibits for local history.
Wheelchair accessible although very narrow rows of display so wheelchairs are not able to navigate through all parts. But very informative and fun. Three floors of adventure as well as a running carousel!
Must see! Great place! Lots of history and neat displays. 3 floors of an historic hotel, filled with exhibits, trains vehicles and a miniature town. Our family had a great time here. Plan to spend several hours.
There are so many things on display here. There is something that everyone will find interesting, odd, to downright creepy. Things like an old Train, cars, and horse drawn carriages. To old restored hotel rooms and ball rooms. A staircase that a long time hotel worker fell to his death on. An old gallows stands in one area. And a whole section set up like a turn of the century main street. For those who dare there is a small section in the police exhibit of murder weapons, and things found on prisoners over the years.nOut towards the back you will find the house that Jesse James was murdered in. There is am extra fee but its worth it. The bullet hole is still in the wall, and it was a neat little addition to our day.
