This is a nice spot to visit while in Medora / Theodore Roosevelt National Park. The house was built in 1883 by the Marquis de Mores where he wanted to start meat packing business. Unfortunately, the business didn’t survive, but we can still enjoy this chateau. It has a lot of original pierces of furniture (like 95%) and is well kept as a museum. Interesting fact - the owner knew Theodore personally and what’s even more interesting is that they almost got into a duel fight.

Impressed with historical actors and interpretation of the period. A great way to engage the audience! The home tour was enlightening as we walked through approximately 26 rooms! I enjoyed getting to know Medora and her family.

Exploring the Chateau and visitor center is really quiet entertaining, as well as informative. Learning about the origins of Medora, both initial success, and then disasters which followed, is fascinating. The experience also provides some insight into the servant - nobility complexities of the past.nYoung children may find the experience a little slow, however, families in general should find it very interesting. Admission for a vehicle (regardless of the number of occupants) was $30 at the time of this review.

Great site, well worth the entrance fee. Much of the Chateau is just as it was when the Marquis lived there. An awesome little piece of history, and the staff was extremely friendly and knowledgeable!
