Oh my goodness, the new Wonderscope is amazing! We were so attached to the old Wonderscope, but the new one is truly better. It retains a lot of the allure and charm of the old Wonderscope (hands-on art space, water play, grocery store, etc.), but just improves on that. The layout is so well thought out — all the space is used so cleverly so that there are tons of little nooks for kids to play in. There’s tons of bench seating for the adults, so they don’t have to stand around as much as before. There’s a diaper change station centrally located in the play space. The outdoor space is basically its own play space — my daughter could have spent the entire 2 hours outside if I’d let her ud83dude02. And possibly my favorite feature: the spacious carpeted under-4 area. My son crawled for about a year, and it was nearly impossible to find good places to take him during that time. This space would have been amazing for him during that time!
I have been bringing my kids here for years and they have always loved coming to this children's museum. The building used to be a school so they have remodeled each classroom to be it's own unique play room. My kids loved the art room, the veterinarian room, and the building room the best. This is the best place to interact and play with your child and make some awesome memories.
We would take our daughter to the original location almost every week before it closed down. The original locacation had an n amazing staff that knew our daughter by name and interacted with her one on one. I was surprised to see NONE of the same staff. It is a nice facility but not the same environment. Also there is a sign in the front talking about inclusive of “race, gender identity, etc”. My daughter is 4 and all of the other children in the building were roughly the same age. There is no reason to have added this adult stuff to the new location. Children of this age do not see these things unless we as adults point them out to them. They are innocent and remain so until we adults help them form an opinion. I was disappointed the new location had to go there with the rest of the world and could not remain simply a place to “learn, play, grow” as the original was.
It was ok, wasn't that big though for the price, not sure why adults aren't free, but anyway, they did not enforce social distancing...the place was packed and very crowded when we went, they did not limit the amount of people in one area, the staff was very demanding TO THE CHILDREN to keep their masks over their nose, but the staff said nothing to the tons of African Americans I saw who ALSO were not wearing their mask properly, saw some not wearing them at all. Almost as if the staff were intimidated to say anything. We drove an hour to come here for a fun day, but I'll definitely try some place else next time.
The photos made the place look like a day care, the friend I went with (who has the 3 year old) also thought the same thing. But it turned out to be pretty cool and even pretty entertaining for a 35 year old (me). What a great place for kids to play and stimulate their minds!
