Charming small town. Voted one of the best towns in Kansas and for good reason. They are steeped in history and have several museums to tour with a guide that tells some very cool stories. There is a cafe to break for lunch and a beautiful park across the street to sit in. I hear there is a winery coming soon. I've seen progress on the winery building but it appears to be a long way off.

Aunt Netter's Cafe is worth the trip (breakfast and lunch). I had a terrific tenderloin sandwich and will return for another. The historic sites are not wheelchair accessible.

All Kansans need visit Lecompton. The history of our state before it was a state is intriguing and so well presented at the museum in Lecompton. ud83cudf3b

For a small town, even for a large town, the museum was a wonderful experience. The staff was enthusiastic and informative. The displays were an interesting reflection on Kansas history, especially Civil War era. There is a lot to see, so allow time to browse. Three stories of goodies with an elevator for stair assistance.
