I spent some hours in the museum when I returned to Onawa in 2014 for my 49th high school class reunion. My mother, Leota Hall Chandler, had volunteered in past years and was very complimentary. The museum is in several buildings on the site of a baseball diamond in my youth and near the Onawa Municipal swimming pool at which I had worked in summers during my college years at Iowa State University (1965-1969). I was very pleasantly surprised at the extent of the collections and care in display and support by community members. Clean, neat, well ordered and attended, I was most interested in news clippings from several of the newspapers in Onawa and Whiting. I was able quickly learn more about by Harrison relatives in these newspaper files than I had ever been told by my parents.nnIt’s my fervent desire to return to Onawa especially to spend time in this museum complex and learn more about my hometown and my heritage!nnMel Chandler, MDnEdmonds, Washington, 98020
