Mt Pleasant Police Department

I have a couple reasons for the one star rating. I feel Police departments are a vital key to a healthy community and should set a fine example for those to follow. The Mt. Pleasant police department is falling short of this in a couple areas I've seen first hand. I've attached a photo of junk vehicles that are stored right on the town square in the Police Station employee parking lot for far too long. The blue vehicle with a flat tire has been in the same spot for over a year. One of the other vehicles, stored almost just as long, has several flat tires. Do we have any other options for storing vehicles that clearly aren't going anywhere in a quick manner? If a resident had the same circumstances it would long be towed and stored in the proper manner along with a hefty fine. This is right across from the Courthouse in the Main Street District and to be candid, is just an eyesore. The main reason for the low rating and this review isn't the junk vehicles scattered, it's a Police Officers actions. They are to lead by example. Officer (Badge #44-119) feels he is above the law and decided to not just bring chewing tobacco on school grounds but also to openly carry a spit bottle where he openly chewed and spit tobacco in the gym of Van Allen elementary school. Not only bad manors but directly breaking the law as it's posted NO TOBACCO on school grounds let alone inside the school. Unacceptable. This Officer has a duty and isn't upholding it, and without any consequence- unless you count this review. Let's see some positive changes Mt. Pleasant Police Department, along with little more pride and proper representation of what our community stands for.
