It’s $8 a person to watch a 20 minute video and see the museum. It would have been $24 for my family of three so I passed. The man working there seemed pretty uninterested in talking to us and answering our questions. However, they do have a room that’s kind of like a gift shop with some old stuff and trinkets you can buy that’s free.
Was disappointed that the film of the colony cost $7/adult. Most historical places do not charge a fee to share their history. I can understand a couple of dollars, but I can see a matinee movie for $7.
Amana has one of Iowa’s best museums: the Amana Heritage Museum, about German pacifist refugees who came to Seneca/Buffalo, New York, then Iowa. (April 2018)
Very interesting history, great shops and crafts.
Went to Akermans and meat market also village store.
