If you ask anybody in Eastern Connecticut where to go to get good fried seafood most people are going to say Captain Scott's lobster dock in New London. However as good as Captain Scott's is Johnny's clam shack is better. Sure it may not have the atmosphere of Captain Scott's but the food is far better. The few times I've been there the owner has come out and asked how everything was. I've had pretty much everything on the menu and it is all delicious. This place is a hidden gem and more people need to know about it. The Friday night special is to die for. The breading on the fried fish is arguably some of the best in New England. And what are we known for? Fried seafood!
This place is amazing!!!!! If you are just sick and tired of chain restaurants with their mediocre food and terrible service like I am, then you have to eat here. I ordered the scallops and fish (I've never had fried scallops before) they were both cooked to perfection. He also had outdoor covered seating. When I left I got a cup of chowder to go, I took a taste in the car and couldn't stop eating it, it's worth it to go there just for the chowder. Great place, it deserves more than 5 stars!!!!
1st time today ordered 3 fish dinners they were delicious next Friday will order more will pick up clam fritters Saturday thanks again
Food excellent....just a little clam shack with great food and service . Reasonable prices....how much better can it get.....Enjoy the Tacos!!!!!
Johnny clam Shack was delicious, scallops, Fisherman's platter, Fish-and-chips,Very happy was delicious Johnny. Did a private party was just fabulous, I recommend 5 star for Johnny P.S Can't wait for the boat ride and dinner.ud83dude4b♂ufe0fud83dude4b♀ufe0f❤
