Pound Ridge Cleaners

I've used Pound Ridge Cleaners for years. Excellent service all around.

I cannot in good conscience recommend this place to anybody. Pound Ridge Cleaners doesn’t even deserve one star. They do a mediocre job of cleaning & very poor tailoring, even for minor repairs, for which they charge unusually high prices. Re cleaning, I have found some presumably cleaned items were not fully cleaned. Re tailoring, the seamstress does a very poor job, & when mistakes are called to her attention, she becomes sullen & argumentative as if she can’t be bothered. Three examples - the last & most recent one first: (1) simple hemming of the sleeves of an unlined linen jacket resulted in the hems being angled obliquely (longer at the thumb side, much much shorter on the other side) rendering the jacket unpresentable. The seamstress, who threw the jacket down after I showed it to her, said this was caused by the fabric & that was the way the jacket was originally. I told her that none of my other jackets had sleeve hems at an angle & I told her not to touch the jacket until I brought my other coats in to show her. When I brought my other coats in an hour later, she had torn open the repairs she had done, rendering the jacket unwearable. BTW, the bill for this “repair” was $50, which Pound Ridge Cleaners did not offer to return or to discount. The two prior incidents ... (2) simple hemming of jacket sleeves resulted in uneven sleeve lengths, requiring repair. 3) simple hemming of a straight skirt resulted in stitches showing through the fabric on the outside, requiring repair. Why did I return after these prior incidents? Because they’re the only cleaners in town. I have since found a convenient and much better alternative elsewhere.

i am so disappointed with the service at the pound ridge cleaners. i payed to have the waist band on a pair of pants fixed and it wasn't. instead of saying they made a mistake and they will fix it or offering my $ back, they wanted to charge me $5 dollars more! it is hard to support local businesses when they don't do what they are paid for. i am never going back.
