Thee Laundry

Nice set up, a lots of parking, but lots of machines "out of order".

Prepare in advance if coming here to this run down place, there is no working change machine or attendant. The washing machines were all mostly working but almost all the dryers except 2 were out of order. There are some chairs to sit on and a working bathroom.

10-28-18 Top-loading washers are $2.00 plus a quarter if you want "hot" water; it was warm. The big washer is $5.50 and offers two options, each for fifty cents more. Neither of the options are explained. Roll the dice....see what you get. The dryers give 18 minutes for $1.50 (the only choice) and not even thin socks got dry. When I tried adding another quarter -- while it was still running -- to get more time, it then wanted another $1.25. It's 18 minutes or nothing. You might try the laundromat at Agua Caliente Mobile Home & RV Park at the north end of town.

Literally the only place to do laundry in town, so advise you bring enough clothes to last your entire stay here or save your laundry for a better place if you're just passing through. The prices are a ridiculous rip-off - I paid a total of $8.75 for one load, including two runs in the giant dryer, and even after the second round my clothes STILL weren't completely dry. I have articles of clothing hanging around my motel room air drying, and they'll have to stay hanging around looking bad overnight and possibly even all day tomorrow until they're completely dry. Considering I paid $1.50 per round (total $3.00) this is absolutely unacceptable. I spent over an hour lingering in this laundromat waiting for my load, and didn't see a single person in the building for the duration except for a couple customers who arrived just as I was leaving - that means no workers, no custodians, nobody who looked like they worked there at all. According to the window lettering outside, they perform laundry services for you including wash, dry, and fold, but I guess you have to call ahead or something? Seems pretty unprofessional and inexperienced that there are no workers and no signs pointing you to any of the unidentifiable doors in the place to seek out a worker if you encounter a problem or have questions or anything. They do have a coin machine that takes $1 and $5 bills - not sure if it takes anything higher than that - and dispenses the correct amount of coins. No ATM though, so if you don't have cash on you already, you'll have to pay a visit to the ATM behind the local bank or get cash some other way beforehand (the gas station convenience store shockingly doesn't have an ATM). There's also a laundry detergent dispenser, a couple vending machines, and loads of books (mostly romance novels... cliche)... no TV. Bring your phone or your own book! No restroom that I saw. I noticed a NO SMOKING sign, however upon first walking in I was hit with the unmistakable stench of cigarette smoke - I don't know if locals just ignore the sign and smoke away, or if a previous customer was just such a heavy smoker they left a residual odor, but it was extremely off-putting either way. This laundromat wasn't even on Google Maps until I added it myself. I have to say that I am thoroughly not impressed. Terrible experience. I hope to never have to be forced to use this place ever again.
