Our company has been using Shackamaxon Catering for over five year to cater special events through out the year. We have always had an excellent experience with dealing Paul Spangler or any other of the employees there.nThe food is always excellent and we can't say enough good things about our experience with them. Shackamaxon catered my wedding in Rittenhouse Square. From the very beginning they were extremely professional. Their food is great, prices are very reasonable, and service is excellent. I would definitely recommend them!
My friends hired these folks to cater their wedding. Here are a couple of noteworthy issues they had, which I witnessed first-hand.nnFirst, the bartenders were awful. There was constantly a line of 15 people waiting. Turns out, they weren't actual bartenders at all. They were the caterer's wife and neighbor, and had no bartending skills whatsoever. I would call them incompetent, but that would be a compliment.nnSecond, some of the wait staff had no clue what they were doing. When one of them was walking around with hors d'oeuvres, I asked what it was, and she said she didn't know, she was just asked to serve them. Seriously? I mean I don't expect you to know all the ingredients or how it was prepared, but at least know the name of it. It was Chicken Wellington, by the way.nnSo just be careful that the service you pay for, may not be the service you get.
