Idaho Museum of Mining and Geology

Really fun little historical museum. It has enough little exhibits to keep the while family entertained for about half an hour, more for history buffs. It is a bit tricky to find, so I recommend following Google maps.

If you love rocks.... Great place to see Idaho rocks and geology maps. Rare specimens on display! Relatively small museum, information concentrated on gems often found in Idaho mountains, gem mining in Idaho history, and Idaho’s geological history. Look for Idaho Picture Jasper and Star Garnet— two beautiful gems. Learn where Star Garnet is found in Idaho... find “pictures” in pieces of Picture Jasper.

Very cool this place is great for people who love learning about rocks and geology.nnThey also have meteorites and information about a cool prehistoric shark.nnThe volunteers were very nice and helpful

The gift shop is really nice, and although the museum is very small, it has fun exhibits and a beautiful collection of fossils, meteorites, and minerals. The staff is very friendly and helpful.

Kids loved it, I loved it! We all got our rocks identified and they were such nice people:)
