This art museum is absolutely worth it for the price - and you might even learn something! It’s a small museum, I spent maybe 45 minutes there. I loved their exhibit covering the Great Basin, especially the photographs. They have a large collection of Native American arts - all donated from a couple that collected it.nnThey do not allow backpacks, but they do have free lockers (maybe 12?) for you to use. If it’s busy, you may need to plan ahead. You have to reserve your tickets (online) at least two hours in advance due to covid. When I checked in, they had a sign that kept track of how many people were in the building. There were only a handful of other people while I was there.nnThey do have a hands-on kids art area, but it is currently empty due to covid.

Lovely smaller art museum. I loved the Indigenous sculpture and pottery exhibit- the storyteller sculptures melted my heart. Staff was friendly and informative. The Picasso in there is also breathtaking.

Not family friendly. Some displays are very low quality.

Most art museums have something for everyone. Many have a way to separate family friendly art from disturbing/obscene art. The BAM is not organized in this way. It has a way of blind siding unsuspecting children and parents with art that is better served to a more mature audience. I'm not completely prudish! We have an art encyclopedia at home with nudity in it. I just prefer to be able to preview and discuss with my kids before and during viewing. The Boise art museum just doesn't allow this period it's not family friendly at all. Also, since covid-19 it has nothing there to appeal to children. They wiped out the entire kids section quite unnecessarily.
