Whittier Elementary School

I can only wish that I had the academic, social, and cultural setting that my two children have at Whittier Elementary. Whittier is one of only 2 schools in Boise to offer a true Dual Language Program. My 3rd grader now reads, writes, and converses (academically and conversationally) in Spanish and English. My Kindergarten daughter is well on her way. However, Whittier's excellence does not end with the Dual Language Program. The school as a whole is an excellent place for children to learn and grow. As a point of reference, I spent 15 years of my professional life working with administrators and teachers in hundreds of schools across the country. I was in their schools, offices, meetings, and most importantly, their classrooms. I feel comfortable saying that Whittier has one of the most highly qualified, competent, personable, and caring administrators I have ever seen in Dr. Fernanda Brendefur. We have always loved Whittier, but in the past two years, she has elevated the school to new levels by bringing out the absolute best in those around her - teachers, staff, students, and families. Excellent leaders attract and retain excellent people around them, and that is certainly the case at Whittier. We have been so pleased and impressed by the preparedness, expertise, and humanness of our children's teachers and support staff. They consistently go above and beyond expectations and there is a spirit of professionalism, teamwork, and continued growth throughout the school. Our kids love this special place and the people who make it so. And we do too!

4/20/17nnGOOD SCHOOL.. BUT THEY NEED TO FIX 1 THING.nTHE FIRST TIME I PICKED UP MY SON EARLY FROM SCHOOL THE LADY AT THE FRONT OFFFICE NEVER ASKED WHO I WAS OR ASKED FOR I.D .. ALL SHE ASKED WAS FOR MY SONS NAME AND HIS TEACHER NAME. THAT WAS IT .. AND THE SECOND TIME WAS EXACTLY THE SAME BUT WITH A DIFFERENT LADY .. SO I ASKED ONE OF MY FRIENDS TO WALK IN TO SCHOOL AND PULL HIM OUT AND SURE ENOUGH HE COMES OUT WITH HIM.. I WAS SHOCKED AND DISAPPOINTED THIS TELLS ME THAT ANYONE CAN PICK UP MY CHILD OR ANY CHILD FROM SCHOOL AND WALK AWAY WITH THEM NO QUESTIONS ASK. AT HIS OTHER SCHOOL RIVERSIDE ELEMENTARY THEY ALWAYS ASKED FOR IDENTIFICATION NO MATTER WHAT!

Great teacher's and neighborhood

loved going to this school! all the teachers were so nice.

I hated this school I had a horrible teacher and I got head lice from there and I got bullied all the time this kid gave me a black eye and I told the principle about it and she didn't even care that is so messed up
