Excellent source of history. And really well done in terms of layout and information. This is definitely worth a visit!

This place is small but cute. You learn a lot even though there isn't that much there. I would suggest to anyone that goes that if your not to squimish then try watching the movie there. It really puts things in perspective. Also once you walk out the front door take a look at the building right in front of it. You can see the old cracks in. The wall where you see new wall had to be put in because of the floods.

Our group visited the Johnstown Flood Museum on Sunday, June 28, 2020. We made arrangements in advance to have a guided tour at 12:00 noon. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Our guide was Dave, a direct descendant of family who suffered loss from the flood. Dave was warm, personable, and knowledgeable. Unlike many tours that have guides who are just deliver a canned presentation, Dave seemed to speak from the heart. You can tell he loves his town and its heritage.nThe members of Susquehanna Valley Spyder Ryders left the museum with a greater understanding of the how the 1889 flood affected the people and region. Dave answered all of our questions thoroughly.nHighly recommended for anyone who loves local history!

Read the book first before going. And be sure to visit the huge cavity that was once a man made lake for the very rich and powerful peoplenAs you stand before the mock rendition of the pile up where the rivers met imagine a 40 foot wall of water rushing down while people slept in their beds. A tsunami that washed away a,train. A pile up of burning degree, cows, and bodies. It is a place to give reverence to the 3,000 souls who never should have died that way. I am so glad I went there.
