Fantastic restaurant if you are looking for Japanese atmosphere. Not really a swanky place from the outside....in an old house and small so you MUST make reservations. You must remove your shoes before entering your dining cubical and sit on soft cushions with your feet dangling under the table. Difficult for some to get up and down. Great menu with a wide variety of Japanese Food only-no hamburgers or steaks. The service was exceptional. They cook everything from scratch so it takes time. The food comes piping hot with wonderful presention. The servers are very friendly and great explaining the different dishes. They are there to please and very proud of their food and service. I believe Kappa has been there for 25-30 years. It is a hidden gem of White Rock. Casual dining at the very, very best.

Nice experience in a house with small rooms for each table, probably a Japanese thing, anyway it’s fun, pretty and food is all delicious. Not the ordinary Sushi place, nor are the prices but ok. Not open a lot and must have reservation.

I used to come here when I was very young, I remember on Christmas one year one of the waitresses giving me some little toy figures as a present. I will never forget that.nStill the best Japanese Restaurant that I have been to. Excellent, courteous service, amazing food and cozy ambiance.

My family has been there only twice but both times have had an excellent experience. Food is nice and fresh and very authentic to traditional Japanese recipes (what you would expect from Japanese owners). When you order their set dinner menu, the food doesn't all come at once to overwhelm you trying to clear the table. Instead it is paced out with 5-10 minutes between dishes which help you slow down and enjoy the food. Seating is very limited as all seats are booths, so reservations are recommended.
