When we realized it was time to look for an alternative to public school for our daughter we were nervous because all options in Whatcom County were religious. We are not Catholic and not religious. However from the time we toured, on through her starting (mid-way through her 2nd grade year) and continuing into this new school year Assumption has met and surpassed our expectations for her. She was struggling and getting lost through the cracks in her previous school and has continually excelled and flourished at Assumption. The smaller class sizes have allowed for a more focused and calm learning environment where children's needs are met. They have high expectations (academically and ethically) but make sure students have all the tools they need to meet them. We are so relieved she is in a structured learning environment that is also filled with warmth and understanding. There is an expectation and focus on treating everyone with kindness and helping each other. She has become a calmer more focused learner while also developing socially in a more positive way. As a family we were welcomed warmly into the school. If you are looking for an alternative schooling option for your children we can't recommend Assumption highly enough! No matter your religious background.

For the past two years our family has chosen Assumption Catholic School for our daughter education. This decision has allowed our daughter to enhance her primary education as well has defining her role as a production member of society. The leadership and guidance presented by the teaching staff enables our daughter to remain focused while understanding the principles of being accountable for life decisions. Dan Anderson (the school Principal) is fully engaged with each and every student and their parents by taking an active part in knowing the personal needs and goals of the families. The sense of community is clearly evident from the moment you interact with staff members, teachers, students and their families of the Assumption Catholic School. The mentorship program established between the various grade levels empowers our daughter to encourage other students to succeed in daily tasks and helping others.nWe were hesitant initially with the decision to invest in a private education for our daughter but we have never second guessed this amazing experience for our family. Assumption Catholic School has enriched our daughter with personal growth which cannot be offered in a public setting.nPilon Family

Our son came to Assumption Catholic School in third grade half way through the year. The staff was very welcoming and our son enjoyed the new challenges and robust curriculum. We noticed right away that the students were all excellent presenters and speakers. From kindergarten on each class is responsible for readings in the church and we were amazed at their confidence and poise at the microphone. Most of all we appreciate that there is a strong moral code upheld and the teachers are in tune with the spirit of the child as well as their intellectual growth. Now that our son is in middle school we see him developing into a young man of great character and self control. He is also a part of Assumption Boy Scouts which also has excellent mentors and leadership training. We are confident Assumption has the tools to build young people equipped to positively impact our community. Thank you Assumption!

Assumption Catholic School (ACS) has exceeded my expectations. 10 year ago, my husband and I made the decision to send my daughter to preschool at ACS with no intention to send our children to Catholic grade school. As products of public education, my husband and I did not know about the benefits of a Catholic education. After observing the middle school students’ behavior, acts of service, and interactions, we were convinced to make this type of education a priority. The school emphasizes the whole child by focusing on the body, mind, and spirit. My children have thrived in this environment of rigorous academics, with the help of supportive, consistent teachers. Assumption Catholic School is a culturally diverse community open to students of other faiths with an emphasis on a global education.
