The officer I had today was completely rude!! I was in the process of being stung by a bug and rolled through a stop sign on a back road (no one was around and he was parked in an undercover car) after I politely explained what had happened to me and showed him the marks as proof he fined me $182...so this college girl isn’t going to be getting any books this semester.... thanks a lot! I will be stay as far away as possible from sinking spring

I want to preface this by thanking the police for coming out and resolving the situation. I do not mean to come off as an ingrate. I know the job is hard and stressful. I know it can be terrifying facing the unknown and possible dangers put people on edge.nnHowever, I want to make it known that I am a bit nonplussed about something.nnOfficer McCreary was completely rude and was very insensitive about the entire situation. I understand his frustrations with the issue, but he was very dismissive and almost intimidating as he claimed he would cite me if the police were called again after my attacker has made allegations against me that the officer found baseless. The attacker is an abusive man who had a controlled substance; what if he would come back?nnI can't take the law into my own hands, sir.nnThe officer seemed to encourage the attacker's rants about how I was stealing my dog and cats from him as well as other claims. I understand from a point if he was simply trying to placate the attacker, but it seemed incredibly genuine as were his comments about this being a waste of police resources and implied comments of this being bs. I honestly felt he was looking down on me the entire time and as if he held me in utter scorn. I felt like he genuinely did not care about the matter since it was a bit of a continuation from a matter occurring relatively recently.nnThis is a contrast to other officers I've spoken with before on different occasions. They, while straight forward and authoritive, were much polite and, in the very least, came off as sympathetic. Even with views the opposite of mine, I never once felt I was being patronised and I never once had issue with the way I was spoken to or treated; I always felt they were trying to at least settle things the best they could with at least a half hearted effort. I want to reiterate this - many kind officers will make you feel like you're being taken serious and your issue isn't such a huge burden to them, that it is a matter they take seriously and isn't such a waste. A feeling on one doesn't reflect another.nnPerhaps it was just a bad day for him. Perhaps he isn't a people person, or just didn't realise how he came off to a non officer. I understand that entirely. However, that doesn't excuse treating the people you are supposed to be helping in a such a manner.nnI didn't argue or fight or make any fuss. I was concise and I was civil. I may have come off as emotionless or rather robotic, but I was actually racked with anxiety and suffer from mental illnesses that make it a bit hard to emote properly. I offered no reason to be so rude and a tad mean.nnI apologise if this rubbed you the wrong way, officer, but perhaps you need to look into not rubbing people the wrong way yourself.
