Incredible grounds and sense of history. Unfortunately, visitor's center closed during my visit but was able to walk along pedestrian paths and look into the various structures, including a log house, smokehouse, sawmill. Could have used an open restroom -the portapotty is not my thing but I did get a kick out of the broken down toilets in the vicinity of the restroom sign.

The grounds are open for you to walk around and no one was collecting a fee. Unfortunately I feel much of the history and story is provided in the tours. There isn't much for you to learn about Daniel Boone with the home and visitors center closed. It's an interesting site and hard to imagine growing up here. It's a short walk from the parking lot, I would plan to spend at least 30 minutes here.

Has some nice trails to walk around, a few pavilions and an interesting history lesson. Very nice landscape. Can get busy, but always plenty of parking.

Nice place, nice people, highly recommend checking it out, for young and old. Make sure you go during living history time.nnOnly complaint disorganized, we were waiting on house porch 8th in line to go in when asked by volunteer to step off and over on grass so he could explain about the house. People coming over filled void basically putting us at end of line. Instead of FIFO he allowed them to enter first. That and people can't follow parking instructions.nnBut we would go again.

I visited the historic Daniel Boone Homestead for the first time on Saturday October 26, 2019. I recently purchased a new lens for my camera and I wanted to break it in so I chose this location to give it a try. I was not disappointed in what I saw. My first stop was the red building which is the visitors center. I paid for the self-guided tour and I received a map. Before going off on my journey I viewed a brief video about the site and its namesake. There is a gift shop inside the visitors center. I was facinated by the colorful early American buildings. Unfortunately there was no real fall colors because of the many pine trees on the property. The trails are stone covered which can be a little difficult to walk on but at least the trails are not muddy. Be sure to check out the dam and the very muddy lake behind it, plus the grave site nearby. What was most enjoyable about my visit was how quiet and peaceful the homestead grounds were. The only noise I heard was an occasional airplane, a few birds, and the waterfalls. What an enjoyable afternoon it was at my visit to the Daniel Boone Homestead in Berks County Pennsylvania.
