This place is SO FUN!!!! Definitely recommended. The tour is so informative. I never knew that much about geology! The staff are so nice, and it's a great place for people of all ages because the mine teaches you a lot about rocks. Panning for gold is lots of fun! I struggled with it but the staff helped me out, and I got a few flakes of gold! Definitely a 5 star place, and you should definitely visit, you'll love it! Don't forget to feed the chipmunks!
I'm so glad we found this gem! The mine tour was amazing... our tour guide was very knowledgeable and gladly answered all of our questions. We had a group of 10 people aging from 7 to 70 and everyone enjoyed the tour and the gold panning. The chipmunks the kids got to feed was a bonus. Last year we visited a different mine which left us unsatisfied. This experience was amazing and we will be happy to come back again. I highly recommend this mine.
We had an amazing time touring the mine, feeding the chipmunks and panning for gold! I learned so much and can't wait to go again! So much knowledge, it was hard to absorb it all the first time. Dave was an amazing guide, very knowledgeable and very entertaining! The kids loved it too! When they're a bit older I'll be taking them back!
This place is so much fun. The tour was more informative than I expected. Miner Dave did an incredible job detailing not only the mine operations and processes, but also the geology of the area and formation of hydrothermal mineral deposits. He could point to a spot and tell you how long ago the rock or ore formed. Outside the mine is even a lot of fun. The ground squirrels and chipmunks (both live in the neighborhood) will gently take seeds from you and sit on your leg or shoulder to do so. Panning in the creek proved successful as well. It was a site worth visiting. I’ll be back.
So much fun! Dave was very informed about everything with mining and geology, and you could tell he was extremely passionate about it. He made it fun for everyone in the group, kids and adults. Panning for gold was a blast too, we had questions and Allen (?) was very helpful and friendly when we went to ask. Highly recommend!!
