Took my boys here for a weekend adventure. What a COS secret gem! As former USMC aircrew & civil propeller repairman I ate it up. My boys are currently studying about WW1 & 2 and there was tons of info in that realm. The restoration hanger was beyond cool. My personal favorite was the sea planes! Staff were very knowledgeable & I highly recommend striking up a conversation with some of the vet volunteers. What a great place.
One of the better aviation museums I have ever been to. What makes this place unique is that all of their planes are operational. Nicely displayed and very well maintained. All staff are volunteers and are not only pleasant but very passionate and informed. Due to covid they did have arrows to follow, but it took you through the war chronologically. Amazing artifacts on display as well. Highlights for us were the P38 and a plane that was actually in the Doolittle raid. Really great museum!
One of the best museums I've seen to date. Set up very well, the tour path starts with a synopsis of the First world war then a great timeline of the Second world war. The planes are spectacular! All are kept in flying order by the WestPac company, which has it's shop right across from the museum! A tour of the shop is included with the ticket. The volunteers must be included in my review as they are passionate about the museum and very knowledgeable when questioned about most anything in the place. I would like to recommend Ted and Rod, thanks for all the info! This is a MUST on any visit to Colorado Springs.
One of the most impressive military museums we have ever visited across the globe. Every docent was incredibly friendly, engaging and knowledgeable. An experience not to be missed. Oh yeah, every plane in the museum still flys, and you get to see their current restoration plane in progress. Please support their efforts and this museum, visit today!
This is an amazing museum! The trip through late WWI thru WWII is very through and detailed. The highlights of individual pilots, was so special. I recommend this to everyone who enjoys our history.
