I love teaching at Doull! The staff are caring, the administration is supportive, and the students are hardworking and fun. Wonderful community of learning here!!!
My son Austin loves going to this school. And I love how friendly the teachers are.
I have had my children attend Doull for a total of ten years between all of them and now it has become all about the school rating.nAttendance is a huge part of that rating so they really get on you when your child is actually sick. School is important and being there is a must but they contribute to illness because they will keep the kids outside unless it’s 22 degrees or lower outside. ECE-5th graders! Principal sets this policy not DPS. Nearby k-12 has 30 degrees or lower policy. This temperature changes at Doull each year getting lower and lower.nGo elsewhere, this place is not the school I had once loved and adored. Will be moving schools next year.nThis school prides it’s self with all “the low income kiddos” yet they somehow believe these same children own down coats to wear outside in the freezing temperatures?nIf my teacher only knew that I’m freezing and get dropped off early because mom and dad need to work and I won’t be allowed in the school until 7:50 am while teachers sit cozy inside.nThey only care when it benefits the school appearance not actually caring about the students well being.nThe playground always has ice that never gets cleaned or salted. Many children and adults have fallen. OH and they make you park on stuart in the mornings and you then have to do the limbo to get across the ridiculous black gate. Only a small area to actually walk around it and that is usually piled up with snow!nThey have a huge dip in the concrete that has been neglected for years! Water pools with overfilled geese feces and then come cold temperatures, it’s basically an ice rink.nPrincipal has become less and less available and never responds to emails. Great teachers have left.nMorning drop offs are insane, you park on crowded street with people stopping in the middle of the road to allow their kids off. Kids can be hit by cars!nGo to Doull at 7:40am and see for yourself.nI have complained about speeding cars in the morning and nobody does anything.nI have posted on Facebook to get attention for this and still nobody has done anything.nGo elsewhere. Sabin and KCAA have designated drop off locations with cross guards, not a school secretary or para only watching two corners once in a blue moon.nAfter school pick ups are even worse. Good luck finding a parking spot. Parents block driveways and back up bumper to bumper.nOn Utica it’s only worse with the buses. To be fair, it’s parents that cause the problem but you get no help from school.nDogs are always on school grounds and nobody cares!nI know that this review sounds bitter and vindictive but I’m trying to be helpful. I don’t want anymore parents coming here with high hopes and be disappointed.nThey do nothing about bad behavior and under report incidents.nNow with the after school reflection in place instead of after school detention, your kid can be bullied and the bully be treated to relaxing yoga!nThis was never mentioned to parents until we all saw it on the news.nThey used to have PTA meetings and the current principal ended it. Parents have no input in any decisions and are lucky to even find out about it.nSchool is desperate to stay on the news after their if my teacher only knew project that went viral and gained national attention.nThe school then talked about “their poor kids” all over but if you drive by any freezing morning you will see those poor kids freezing their butts off because of the principals poicies.nDo your research, talk to parents.nNot everyone is unhappy, I wasn’t for many years until it all went downhill.nIf I can help just one person, I will be happy.nnStay away!nnSee pictures, not lying!
I attended Doull Elementary from halfway through 2nd grade- 5th grade! Great school! Great teachers! :)
This is one of the best schools I have ever attended. I went to Doull Elementary from ECE - 5th grade. The teachers, secretaries and the vice principal and principal are AMAZING! Not only do they help each student individually, but go out of their way to help families based on their individual needs. Attending Doull Elementary was such great experience both academically and socially. Mrs. Carrigan was has always been a great role model. She was always outside during recess making personal connections with each one of her students, and up until now she continues to do so. She goes out of her way and daily schedule to make it to her students after school games, such as basketball, soccer or football games. Everytime time a student or parent has an issue or concern, both Mrs. Carrigan and Rob Sugila always make it a priority to deal with the issue at hand. They have always followed up with the students and parents after an issue is reported. I highly recommend this school. Lastly I would like to say Mrs. Carrigan and her staff continue to make a difference in students lives as well as the school. Doull Elementary is privileged to have such an amazing, dedicated and devoted principal and staff!
