This location is not Bishop Elementary. It’s Maddox Elementaryud83dude44.
I've been hearing that Bishop is a bad school but we transferred our daughter from Clayton Elementary after she and a friend left the school and walked to the 7-11 on Broadway and tuffs and then crossed Broadway and walked to my daughter's friends grandmothers house and when her grandmother called Clayton they were completely unaware of the 2 girls being gone. 2 kindergarteners left out of the front doors and were gone for 2 hours without anyone noticing! Clayton didn't call us until after the girls returned to school and had the nerve to tell me the girls would be punished. There was never any explanation as to why the girls left school without anyone knowing and why Clayton did not notify us that our daughter left school but was being returned to school by the other girl's grandmother. I didn't even get an apology for such an enormous screw-up! The principal could only say she didn't know how it happened. When we asked my daughter why she left the school she said it was because she was still being bullied and didn't want to go to recess and get bullied again. The previous week she had been stab in her hand with a pencil by a classmate and before that she was being bullied by a little boy on recess. No matter how many times my husband and I went in there to stop the bullying Clayton never did anything to stop it! My husband and daughter were on fox 31 problem solvers because of everything that happened. Wendy Rubin was very helpful and gave us 2 schools to choose from and Bishop was one of them. Shanna Martin is the principal there and really put us at ease with our concerns! My daughter had an issue with a boy in the beginning of her 1st-grade year and it Mrs. Martin along with my daughter's teacher took care of it and she has not had anymore issues! Bishop is a great school!!
Worst elementary school to send your children. My 6 year old hates & is almost afraid of school because of his negative experiences at Bishop, when he loved preschool & learning so much. The staff is kind, just very unorganized, horrible communication, disclosure & resolution tactics. Not once have they so much as accepted responsibility when they made a significant mistake. My son was locked outside the building and i was not advised until my son told me days later and I brought it up to them at a parent teacher conference. Months later his classroom teacher broke the cord to his headphones (which are mandatory). She admitted to doing so yet brushed me off when I asked for a replacement. My sitter was once late picking him up from school, the school did NOT make one attempt to contact me yet they did our emergency contacts. He had a stye, I communicated that he had been seen by a physician and it was not contagious, they not only sent him home the following day, but scared my child so much that he truly BELIEVED he was infected. He was almost afraid to go back to school. Please don't put your kids though this, my son used to love school. This experience has hindered his love for learning & entire perspective on schools.
Bishop was sick cause met some life long buddy bois there and have some good memories. Mrs. Demunk is chill af and Ms. Vacarro. I’m a teenager in high school and still want to go back to bishop. They got rid of all the cool people though and when I went to middle school my bus stop was at bishop and it looked like trash so it was cool but idk about now.
Bishop has been an excellent experience for our two daughters, and they have attended this school for 4 years now. I was a little leery of sending them to this school considering they are mixed Black and White in a predominately Hispanic school, but their race has not made any difference in the way they have been treated and by anyone in this school. The teachers have been excellent, have never mistreated our girls, and have only found ways for them to excel to their fullest potential. My kids have never been picked on in this school and are having a much better experience than they were in their previous school district. The class sizes are small which allows for more one-on-one attention, and everyone in the school knows your name and which children belong to you. This makes us feel very secure and comfortable that the school is doing and will do everything possible to keep our children safe and protected. The opportunities they have for kids both during and after school have been amazing to keep them interested and attentive to school and are far beyond what other schools in this area offer. Our only regret is that we didn’t find Bishop prior to our older daughter starting kindergarten because we know she would have had the best school experience possible, right from start. Thank you Bishop for all you have done for our daughters, we truly appreciate each and every one of you!
