California Avenue Station

Decently-sized Caltrain station. No amenities, but lots of businesses nearby in California Avenue. Layout of the station is kind of confusing. Bike and pedestrian tunnel to Alma.

Great place !! 1 block from work! Platform has train schedule posted , Benches for seating Lighting in the evening and parking $5 all day and most of all Time of day is displayed , next arriving train time is shown and telling us is on time or not.

Superior service.

The signs are confusing, there's a tunnel that looks inviting but you can't go there. you learn that the northbound platform doesn't have ticket machines only when you almost make your way to it. Board other stations instead.

This station is clean and functional, but it's TERRIBLY designed. The ONLY way to catch a train heading north is to head down several flights of stairs, walk through a tunnel, and then walk back up several flights of stairs. Every single person going northbound must go through this one tunnel. If you're on the north side of the station (north of Alma St), you can't just cross the street to catch a train. You must walk a block down Alma St to a tunnel, take that tunnel to the south bound platform, walk down the full length of that platform, then take a second tunnel to the northbound platform. This takes about ten minutes, and it's to go somewhere right across the street! Absolutely ridiculous.
