The Great Basin Museum is not really a place that I would travel for, but it is worth stopping by if you are in the area. The museum is full of Old West type memorabilia as well as Native American artifacts. There are no official guided tours, but the lady at the front counter was willing to answer some questions. As far as museums go, it probably lacks the funding for significant improvements to displays and interpretive exhibits. The way things are arranged is kind of like a sorted horde of old items with basic descriptions. I can appreciate the efforts that the staff has made to collect and share the history of the area, but honestly, I wish there was better attention paid to preserving the items properly and better connections made between items to establish context.

Great frontier museum with fossils, Great Basin, history and antique farm machinery. For a bonus you also have the Topaz Museum next door which is a history of a WW ll Japanese internment camp. Fascinating history in this little town!

The community has worked hard to make this a great museum. Wonderful artifacts have been donated. It's definitely worth the stop.

Loved the history displayed here. They also have a very nice gem and mineral display.

A very nice, small museum. The lady working there had so much information and she was so excited to share it!
