My girlfriend was pulled over last night and asked where she was going . We are corona Del Mar residents but we happen to be Mexican so we are routinely stopped questioned “where are you going” and even once asked who’s daughter was in our back seat as she was my girlfriends and fair skinned. I called once to complain to officer Johnson but she was of no help and told me I was wrong. Try your best not to be Mexican or black (brown skinned ) in this city.

Received a fix it ticket for registration not updated.nThe officer checked records and noted i had paid.nI told him we have moved twice this year and it was currently lost in mail.nI had an appt. with DMV to get the sticker.nHe felt the need to give me a fix it ticket the place my sticker on the car.nI think we have way to many officers employed. What a waste of taxpayer money. Just to add the front office clerk is clueless with procedures and rude.

Shame on you! The officer tossed the licences and registration on the ground of the passenger seat and left. Disregard for respect hypocrite. I grew up in Newport Beach my entire life. The officers of this city do not serve and protect they simply serve and harass. The same thing happens every month they wait till the last minute and then just start ticketing for random citations to make their quota. Instead of pulling an individual over and not giving them a reason until they write up a ticket. How about you do your job and get people whom text and drive or DUI or speeding. This community should be ashamed of the police department.I see them sitting around and chatting more than anything time and time again. A bunch of disappointing men and woman. The chief of the police should be disgusted with his leadership. . Shame on you.

The Newport Beach Police Officers reassured me that there are great officers who are respectful, responsive and serve without discrimination. I was terrified to call the police having been kidnapped and held for ransom by a different state sheriff’s department which was a terrifying series of events that has been emotionally traumatizing for my son and I. I called the Newport police department after my son and I fled to California and were staying in a rental home in Newport. I was concerned someone was outside watching us. I wasn’t sure if the shadows were tricking my eyes, if my fear was a post traumatic trigger and I called Newport Beach police department. I hung up quickly the first time because I realized I was terrified of them.nnI called back because I had to overcome this unreasonable fear. I couldn’t allow the few bad to be my belief in the whole because that is the beginning of a new class of segregation just a different grouping, and I refuse to accept the direction that leads my beliefs. History has taught us a great many lessons and I choose not to repeat mistakes and called the Newport Beach police department back.nnI spoke with the male officer on the phone and I was stuttering, I sounded like an idiot, as my fear surfaced again with thoughts that I could be sealing my own fate, ‘what ifs’ racing through my minded. I tried to speak to explain I was scared and thought someone was outside our house just watching and waiting and not being able to say why because the story was so long where do I even begin.nnI started to apologize for calling and dismissing my concern when the officer asked me my name and where I was. His voice was calm and tone was very respectful. He said he would be there in 15 minutes and I stopped breathing because I was listening for any background noise that would alert me or anything to let me know I just made the biggest mistake and there was nothing except he said goodbye before hanging up. I can’t remember exactly because I think my body already started pacing back and forth in the living room.nnI wondered if I should wake my son and get him ready for another emotional trauma I just caused because I called the police this time and didn’t know if it would trigger his post traumatic stress seeing officers at night. The last time police were at our home in a different state, they were dressed in jumpsuits and we hid in our safe room and listened to them pound on our walls and windows, laughing and shouting, “Hellooooooo..” like some horror scene you never think would happen. I never thought would happen.nnI was raised by a policeman. I was brought up believing policemen were like him, kind, honest and law abiding. And the night described above, I called the police on the police not knowing it was the police outside my home because they never identified themselves. I was told they left on an “emergency call” and they couldn’t serve me civil papers as the reason why they were there. It was 10:42 pm., when I called the police on the police and they were not serving civil papers as described above they came back held my son and I at gunpoint to kidnap me and hold me for ransom.nnMy point being, I was terrified of what the Newport police would do, I had every reason to be afraid and I refused to believe the few represent the whole because history has taught us that is the foothold of evil, to form beliefs in people based on fear that places a false label on a class of people that starts the segregation process and I will not participate in that process and I will not let fear lead me into justifying evil thoughts.nnThe Newport Beach police officers were at our rental home in less than 10 minutes. They were respectful, professional, kind and they represent the truth of who police officers are. The Newport police assured my belief in police officers and have repeatedly reminded my son the Newport police officers are the real policemen as we heal his PTSD. I am forever grateful. I am forever thankful for them, much more than I can describe. God Bless you and keep you all safe.

Hands down, the best, most professional police department in California.
