I came here as a kid and I want to say I enjoyed it even though money greedy Ms.Vallens came I still had an amazing time at the school all the staff and teachers were nice and co-operative to the students back then I don't know if they still are but I'd say most kids will have fun at this school

Ohh the memories. I Used to get ignored by my first grade teacher ms. Dias and I was the quietest student. Until she transfered me to a different class room.

This school may not be in the best area, but Liggett definitely teaches kids a thing or two. Sure, some of the staff give unnecessary punishments and comments, but overall I'd say the staff, especially the teachers and the principal, are fair and friendly. The school is NOT pretty whatsoever, and the school encourages picking up trash, but nothing is really being done. So much trash is all over the campus, especially near the cafeteria and handball courts. They have a play-leader system in which 5th graders are assigned to certain 1st grade classes to be taken care of, and while I generally think this concept should help the fifth graders have a sense of confidence and learn to teach and socialize with others and help the first graders develop friendly relationships with authority figures, it really doesn't do that. It is very poorly executed, as many of the play-leaders encourage running/racing, fighting, and more dangerous behavior while the rest are left powerless because the kids absolutely love the trouble-makers. Thankfully, some of the TAs enforce a better kind of behavior from the fifth graders, but they can only do so much. The education for the highly gifted kids is very good, however I believe that the kids have learned to be evasive in so many ways that they have been able to sneak around the teachers and do what they want. Individuality is important, but painting your nails with white-out and highlighters and running your hands through slime is not acceptable while teaching fractions. However, some teachers have proven to be better each year at catching these kids, so the problem is slowly fading away. Overall, the school is okay. Depending on your child's level of social interaction and educational development, I would recommend this for certain reasons and not recommend them for some other reasons.

There is no structure during recess and lunch hours. The bathroom areas are more of a hang out then a privacy for the students. Kids are runnkng in and out and playing inside with no supervision. Staff don’t even wear there VEST for acknowledgement or there chatting amongst each other or on there phones. This is the problem with all LAUSD schools. It’s not so much the bad community that we live in, it’s more like these staff members don’t care ud83eudd37‍♀ufe0f. Kids that are Elementary age are safer being homeschooled then going to these environmental schools. No one speaks up a lot of parents rather not deal with it afraid to loose there jobs or just don’t want to make the time to advocate for there kiddos. Addressing your concerns is more like talking to the wall with the administrators. The teachers most of them are great, but the supervision they have outside and the administatrors running the front office is terrible need there own structure.
