I understand that the parking attendants are just doing their job. I understand when an admin or receptionist isn't trained properly and doesn't have or give the correct information when asked a question. I understand there are policies with regards to parking.nnHowever, when a student directly calls the on-campus police department to clarify the policies for parking in the student lots after 5:00 on weeknights and Saturday mornings, and is told directly by said receptionist or admin that it's alright to park in the student parking lots without a pass after 5, as long as you don't park in a staff stall, the student believes said receptionist, and parks after not being able to find a single open space on the STREET, ends up getting a ticket, tries to contest it because they were given incorrect information (can PROVE IT) and have it be denied without even an investigation...there's a problem.

0 STARS!!!nI was previously under impression that the objectives of campus police centered around SAFETY i.e. for students and staff. It was presumed that while they are able to enforce all laws to the same extent as 'real' cops, that the purpose of their presence on a college campus was to reduce/respond to threats of violence/hazards/disturbances, as well as deter theft/vandalism to property and/or vehicles of students and staff. Well guess what... it's NOT. Perhaps it was at one time; but evidently they're a little too bored these days, leading to them INTERFERING with students minding their own business trying to attend class. Indeed, upon parking and attempting to exit my vehicle I was contacted by an officer in regards to issues with my registered and the plates on my car. Yea, I admit I was holding off on the registration until next month when I could afford it (I'm a single mother and socio-economically disadvantaged), although I DID have an active insurance policy. Ended up missing class, car was towed, and could not get home to my 2 year old until late that night (no money/ride and living 10+ miles away). GOOD WORK GUYS, maybe leave it to the 'real' police next time , especially since your staff has no idea how to even fill out a police release resulting in being sent back & forth by the tow company...end result it STILL wasn't properly filled out but the tow company processed it anyway; realizing the perceived oversight was actually incompetence...nWith respect to their authority to enforce all applicable local laws, I maintain the position that just because you CAN do something, doesn't mean you SHOULD... next they'll be cracking down on students for J-walking. Smh if your personnel is that bored perhaps you should consider lay-offs.
