I would like the community to be aware of the deceptive and unethical business practices followed by the Licensing Office located at PRO HARDWARE in Brewster. Yesterday (9/29) my husband visited this business to transfer title and register two new (to us) snowmobiles and trailer. When my husband left the office he realized the ‘annual’ tabs for the snowmobiles expired in 2020, 9/30/2020 to be exact. Why would we pay the annual $50.00 per snowmobile for a ONE DAY registration?nnUnbeknownst to us (as first time owners) snowmobiles have a common annual renewal date of September 30th. We also found out that when customer vehicle data is loaded in the state system licensing agents are FLAGGED so they can advise customers and let them decide if they want to wait until after 9/30 to renew for the upcoming year. This was confirmed by agents in Twisp, Okanogan and Tonasket. Did this agent bother to tell us to simply come back tomorrow to register for 2021. NO.nnSo, this morning my husband went back to Pro Hardware and professionally explained the situation. The Pro Hardware licensing agent did not offer any resolve even though we were told by the Washington State DOL that the licensing agent does have the ability to ‘fix’ this. My husband also asked the agent if any of this made sense to him and got no answer. The agent rudely walked away.nnOk, so it was $100 out of our pocket... but the bigger picture is how many other people has he been screwing over? How many in the Hispanic community fall for his deceptive practices because of a language barrier and the fact that they do not understand Washington State RCW’s?nnPlease think twice before giving this guy your business, there are many other local licensing agents to choose from.
