The company was a pretty good one before they were long and foster. Once they sold it to the big corp, it went down hill. They raised the cost to manage to the highest I have ever seen from any management company and provided less over sight on my property. They allowed my tenants to destroy my home and walk away without fully correcting the damage. They failed to fully inspect and photograph my home during the move in process. Simple stuff too, like the back door to the deck, the salt system, and new fridge i put in there. That's just the start of it. They only want to use there high contractors too when a repair is needed. They get people to drive from 30 miles away to do the repair when there's at least a dozen local guys that can do it. I never saw documents in their online system unless I called to get them placed in there for me to easily reference. When you do try to call and get in touch, that's another terrible process. Typical Large company system. You call, you press a bunch of numbers to get transferred to the wrong person. After 10 minutes and multiple attempts you finally get in touch. I did end up getting a direct number later on in the leasing process however. Management companies are suppose to take the stress away and make it easy for you. These guys DON't.

Long and Foster is the worst property management company I've ever dealt with. They have the worst customer service, never return calls, namely, Sara Gill. I emailed her over and over again, and I would never receive an email back. But when she emails you, she expects a reply. When you call, she does not get on the phone, she relays messages through whoever is on the phone. If I could give them zero stars I would. I’ve caught this company in numerous lies, extremely deceitful. Do not do business with them, if you see long and foster in the ad, RUN.

Our property manager was Sara Gill. When we first got to our rental property it was nasty and had not been cleaned before shuffling us in the door. our dryer was broken for the first 5 months we lived there and they did nothing to speed up the process. The homeowner was having the same issues with the company yet our property manager told us it was the owners fault the repairs were not being done. This was not the case. L&F threatened to make us pay an extra months rent because my next duty station orders(military) had not been given to me yet. After we had completed our move-out checklist and paid for professional cleaning around the house, Sara Gill decided to charge us for professional cleaning over $600 deducted from our lease even though we had provided the receipts from the professional cleaning ourselves. If you are military living in Virginia, DO NOT, repeat DO NOT rent/lease/buy/sell from Long and Foster.

Horrible customer service had to break the lease. It is a nightmare and still after 2 months have no seen anything official. Response to emails are sparse. We are told one thing, than it changes to something else. Do not trust this company.

Have caught this company in numerous lies, extremely deceitful. Terrible customer service. Have been in contract disputes for over 6 months and every time we have to interact with Long and Foster it is like pulling teeth and holding hands. NEVER DO BUSINESS WITH LONG AND FOSTER!!! YOU WILL REGRET EVERY MOMENT!!!
