Harrisonburg Redevelopment

My Mom & Dad both have received help from the Housing Authority. They were both on waiting lists. Mom received help years before Dad (they're divorced) and she wasn't on the list but months before receiving help. Dad had to wait longer & I would assume times were harder & more people were on the list. John (Housing Authority worker) was so kind to my Mom that it warms my heart. Kim also was one of her favorites. Sara retired but she too was very good to us. I think the employees of Harrisonburg Redevelopment are first class & I feel blessed that my parents have received help from there.

Living here has been a wonderful experience. I was blessed with a 2 bedroom when I was at one of the worst times of my life. They helped me get back on my feet so I could build a better life for my kids. I was in the 5 year program that helped me save for a bigger home. The staff treated me always well and my worker John is the sweetest/funniest person ever. John was a maintenance worker when we moved down here from New York and so he would come to our home and fix what we needed. We were also in the housing program as kids. After time we were able to move on our own with the help of Housing. The secretary always very sweet. Its nice to come to the office and be greated by such a nice person. I saw the other reviews but I just want yall to know that its not like others really say. Yes, there is a wait list which means you have to wait. I waited 3 years and it was worth the wait. Also, if they send you letters and you dont respond..you will be removed. They are doing a good job by letting you know there is a spot available and if you dont respond, they move to the next person. Its like getting a job, if you dont respond back for a interview then they move to the next person. The neighborhood is clean and maintenance is on top of everything. I would recommend Housing Redevelopment to everyone. I will forever be greatful for the helping hand they gave me ud83dude09

Horrible. Waited 2.5 years to get accepted with 3 kids on one income. On one we qualified. I marry my fiancée of 3 years and then get told 2 weeks before we think we're moving into a new place we make too much. My husband offered to quit his job so we go back to one income because we really needed this and were told it doesn't matter. How's it not matter? My income alone was good enough before but not all of a sudden? I've had to contact an attorney to get help. Everyone says it doesn't make sense. I tried calling to speak to a supervisor and the lady who answers acts like it's a secret to speak to anyone higher up. We're stuck now. Thanks HUD.

They tell u one thing and do the opposite my daughter has been needing assistance for 2 years they never check the waiting list I have asked them about the buying program to get off to help others

I waited 5 years and I called them to cheak if I was still on the waiting list for a voucher, they told me they didn't get a response from a letter I hadn't even recieved.nnI'm thankful they put me back on the list but it breaks my heart, Im still waiting and praying I get any word that I can be lucky enough to get a voucher to have my own apartment.
