The two men and the woman bartender are friendly, professional, funny. The mansion is interesting but overflowing with a lot of stuff. It is a wacky place - sort of a flea/antique store/fun amusement place. I am glad I went to see it, but it was boring too. I feel it is expensive and so would not go a second time. Two people at $70 total plus $15 parking. It says 100% proceeds go to benefit “this concert” Heroes & Artist in Residence Program”. I am not sure why it says on receipt concert since it was not a concert.
Super fun morning exploring the mansion, checking out music memorabilia, and searching for hidden doors. Definitely a unique experience!
Loved this spot! It was really one of a kind, and if you have the opportunity, I’d book a room! We booked tickets with brunch(the brunch sucked honestly—-some to go boxes that we not worth the extra money) however it’s cool wandering around hunting for the secret doors!
My fiance and I have been here once and it was a great experience. I recently planned a trip for my mothers birthday. My mother has not been cleared to wear a mask. However, she has been cleared to wear a face shield. Before buying my tickets I called the museum to confirm face shields were OK. I was told as long as we stayed 6 feet a part we were all set! 1 hour before our tour time I got a call from Ted. He told me he saw my note with the ticket order and he and his staff that day were uncomfortable having my mother come inside. My mother/family and myself were all coming from different directions and were on the way. I told Ted that my mother has a doctors note and that we were given the OK 3 days before. He said no doctor in the world would ever exempt anyone from wearing a mask. He then told me he has a lung disease (which is extremely personal information) and if my mother comes inside the mansion with COVID he would die. I reassured him none of us had COVID symptoms. He then mocked me and asked if I would like the entire mansion to clear out just for me. He also said he can send his entire staff home just for me. He told me I was being rude because I asked for the owner's name. I asked for the name of the owner/supervisor and he refused to give it to me. He told me he would call me back and never did. We had an entire day planned around this tour and it was disappointing that we were turned away 1 hour before. It was the only reason we planned this trip to DC. We still enjoyed my mothers birthday though! No doubt COVID has divided people in many ways. The love and care for others is extremely rare these days. Please remember there are many people in the world with conditions that prevent them from wearing a face mask for long periods of time. It is not safe for them to wear masks. If Ted is that afraid he should not be at work. There are plenty of remote jobs. It was wrong to promise the tour and cancel 1 hour before. I know it is easy to judge someone who isn't wearing a mask but please try not to. There are real conditions out there and these people are humiliated everywhere they go. It is a personal choice to leave the house and if you set out to be rude and judge others... please stay home :) The museum is not in the position to make a decision for my mother or any guest. You do not cancel 1 hour before. The staff should know the rules and I should have been told the first time I called. Very inexperienced and poor management.
MOST MAGICAL AMAZING PLACE IN DC. My boyfriend and I just stumbled upon it when we thought the street name was cute and we walked right into such an inviting space. They are great accommodations with COVID and the people are the most friendly people you will meet!!! I not only saw american history but history of the rich and famous! I would pick this over the national mall any day
