Tonight, for Sweet Sox's daily truck ride,(which is a subject for later) Jeremy and I decided to go see the Festival of Lights. On my way back home, I thought it would be nice to just take a leisurely route, so I took Lookingglass Cutoff Road. Just before reaching Winston, my right driver side tire had a blowout. There was a three way intersection impending and traffic all around so I went up onto the grassy median and promptly got stuck.nnSo here we were, Jeremy and I standing outside the truck scratching our heads and digging out the spare tire, jacks (yep, I have two, which was fortunate....) and trying to figure out how to change the tire right there since we were hopelessly stuck. We were not making much progress.nnEnter the very kind, helpful, Officer Smith of the Winston PD. He happened to be driving by, and offered assistance. At one point, he thought we might call a family member, or a tow truck. I told him, my husband was in Fresno, CA....so no family members to call at this time. I also told him I cannot afford a tow truck so we had to just figure out the situation, one way or another. So, Officer Smith did just that. He helped us out of our messy situation, rather than press us to find another avenue. With his help, we managed to get the truck jacked up even on super soft ground, and get the tire changed, and get us unstuck and on our way home. I am so grateful to him for his time and effort. I appreciate his assistance.nIn light of the bad police publicity, it is my honor and privilege to share a positive and kind story about someone who serves and protects.nnWay to go, Officer Smith of the Winston, OR PD. We are very grateful for you.

I received a ticket a while ago and the officer was professional and answered all my questions. I’ve never had a problem with WPD and I can trust them to do their jobs.

HORRIBLE!!!!!!!!!! Not helpful, unprofessional and uncaring to the citizens who pay their salaries. Watch out for speed traps, that is how they fund their coffers.
