Ok, but not so interesting as the center near Baker City. Nevertheless you will learn what the settlers had to endure on their half year long trail. I liked that you also get the facts versus the fiction, for example why they formed a circle every night. It was not to stand against the evil native Americans... What I also liked was the building itself. It looks like several huge wagons.

Visited with my mom in the late 90's. We both love the time period & the Oregon trail and loved the museum. Wagon wheel impressions were the highlight for me - insanely interesting and moving history in display.

If you like history and are traveling through the area this is worth the stop. The interpretive center was closed when we visited but the landmarks at the site were still accessible. Seeing the trail ruts of the old Oregon trail were something worth seeing. We were amazed just how preserved they still are for how long they have been exposed to the elements.

My wife and I visited this brilliant interpretive centre in November 2014. It has left an indelible impression with this of the heartbreak, perseverance and triumph of this incredible period in American history.nnAll those involved in the creation of this brilliant museum well done.nnKaren and Darby Monro, Queensland Australia

Our family visited this place earlier in the pandemic before it was closed. This was during the fires, too, so there was a lot of smoke (but no fires right nearby).nnInside the interpretive center, the ranger was nice and helpful. The gift shop was closed, much to the chagrin of my children. Nevertheless, and despite the smoke, it was still a highlight of our road trip. There were a lot of displays, life size, like a wax museum.nnWe did not hike as we had planned, because of unhealthy air quality. Instead, we drove around and parked near the trial ruts. Only had to walk a few steps. It was extremely interesting to see the actual ruts in the middle of no where that people traveled on to build new homes in the west.
