The views are phenomenal and quite accessible, which I was impressed. A quick hike to feed your soul. I didn’t see much traffic or trash along the trail which is great people are respecting nature.

It's not an easy trail because it's above 10000 feet for the duration of the hike. The scenery is amazing. The hikes starts out level, then drops down 450 vertical feet. At the end, one basically scrambles up to the top with a 100 foot vertical climb. There's a trail but it's steep at the end. The main difficulty is hiking down on thousands of surface tree roots. Then you must climb back up at the end to the Crest parking lot. Take a light jacket because it can be chilly up there.

Beautiful and diverse trail. Take a map as it is not well marked. Easy out and back. Stunning panoramas.

If you drive to Sandia Crest, it's an easy hike to North Peak and then awesome aspen view. It's good to bag N Peak, but the 360° view is obscured by trees.

Best views of the Sandias within a short hiking distance. Relatively easy hike with great rewards. We parked at the Sandia Crest parking lot, paid the three dollar fee, found the trail head to the north and walked past the radio towers. The views are fantastic!!The more adventurous can keep going to the highest point on the nort end of the Sandias. We know it as North Peak but is a.k.a. the knifes Edge. The trail is straight up and rocky at points but all and all well worth the effort.
