Beautiful sandstone hoodoos at the trail. Easy to navigate. Be careful of road conditions.

Great hiking area! The hoodoos are awesome!

Great place to go hiking (or biking I assume but we didn’t do that). You really feel like you are out in the middle of nowhere and the combination of hoodoos and mesas give the place an amazing feeling. Do be prepared for a long bumpy dirt road in that would probably be tough after a rain but it was fine in December with some snow on it. Both the Hoodoo path and the Seismosaurus path are fun though we probably preferred the Hoodoo one. You can find trail maps on line at the Bureau of Land Managment.

The Ojito Wilderness is a gem for Albuquerque area locals. It is hidden away down Cabezon Rd, and is owned by the Bureau of Land Management. This means that camping is acceptable as well as shooting! There are some wonderful trails that lead you through unique landscapes and it is the perfect location for early spring when the mountains are still too cold.nnCheck Alltrails for detailed maps of the hiking trails in the area.nn***Please help keep the wilderness clean by leaving no trace. Clean up your shells, targets, and campsites.***
